The year 2008 post inauguration ... what transpired?

The months of August and September given to Formalities: Inviting known supporters of C.S.C. to membership in accordance with the club's articles, the issue of incorporation with O.F.T - N.S.W. and the adoption of rules to satisfy the club's non-profit status. Not forgetting appointment to positions members were to fulfill.

The months of October and November -- because of the lateness in the year -- the first and subsequent talk was delivered by our secretary. Don Brooke by virtue of his recently acquired legal qualification, submitted a discourse on the background of Pauline Hanson's One Nation party, its structure, financing, her subsequent imprisonment by the Queensland government and the decline of One Nation; those implicated in the party's genesis, rise to legal standing and decline etc.

The public meetings when Don delivered his talk on One Nation drew a few people from the earlier C.S.C.  Those that attended during this period learned of the club's formation by "word of mouth". More had to be done to increase attendance, individually A.S.C. membership spread the "word"; two to three members suburban based liaised with other groups with a social conscious, these liaisons were to carry over to the following year. Another member issued letters at the end of October to R.S.L. clubs: Ashfield, Auburn, Belfield, Belmore, Campsie, Drummoyne and Hurlston Park (all close to A.S.C. venue). This after conferring with the secretary (D. Brooke) who believed nothing would eventuate, He was Right! My
belief is that those letters never got exposure at the respective clubs?...? The test yet to come, our secretary at the outset had indicated optimism Burwood R.S.L., its members and guests would inflate numbers in support ...

2009 and was the secretary's expectation fulfilled?

The impression was Don A.S.C. secretary had a good relationship with the Function Manager/Coordinator. Printouts of the calendar for the 2009 year were accepted by the staff, placed at an inconspicuous location within the foyer. On the other hand, I was told by other members of A.S.C. the Burwood R.S.L. promoted our venue via the club's member area c.c.t.v. screens. These initiatives were not in place from the outset, but were the earlier attempts intended to endow minds; apparent from observation not all present were there to participate in the R.S.L.'s Thursday night function(s). Another frustration for our secretary was the garbled manner in which the foyer staff would announce(sic) over the p.a. on the night of A.S.C. meeting: the place (convention room) and times (reasonably requested) to commit to the microphone. By the time of our last attempt i.e. a personal approach was for A.S.C. members were to identify and invite patrons, those not there for the regular Thursday function or gaming to join us.  Formally suggested to R.S.L. management, there was no response - The Staff WON!

We realized by May 2009 that more had to be done. Advertisements were run in Torch Publishing's Auburn Pictorial Review, Cumberland/Courier (N.S.W.) Newspapers' Inner-West Weekly and Cumberland News Ltd. Village Voice Drummoyne. Since the cost prohibited running our club's advertisement over more than a few issues. The secretary prompted the idea to approach known right wing journals and newsletter publicists. After documentation and a calendar compliant were issued the following conservative publishers acceded to assist:
- Australian Heritage Society [ Heritage Magazine ]
- Australian League of Rights [ On Target ]
- The Strategy Newspaper [ The Strategy ]
- The Australian Beacon [ Australian Beacon ]
- The Australian Monarchist League [ "Liberty" a newsletter ]
- Australians for a Constitutional Monarchy [ ACM News ]
Documentation archived doesn't show a request made to progressively remove date redundant entries, and insert remaining calendar in subsequent issues; this respectively related to the foregoing.

As with the mentioned publications, so it was with SydneyTalks (an Internet Bulletin Board), a modicum of interest resulted in both instance. When the secretary applied to the principals of SydneyTalk to have A.S.C. talks posted (remainder of the calendar for 2009) i.e. August to October.  Don increasingly came up against difficulties. The principals placed unreasonable compliance demands. Apparent to Don this site was primarily intended for "left wing-footers*" groupies etc, i.e. "Politics In The Pub" and such like. "Left or Right ... our brain shapes us" [The Australian, 30/12/2010, THE NATION 3]

[*  meaning used by the Right of politics applying to current society. ]

Reconstructed 2009 Calendar

A calendar was issued by the secretary early 2009.  However cancellations early in the year and the loss of data by malware corruption of the secretary's computer by years end, means I've to reconstruct the 2009 calendar.  I only know of another instance where a person with recognition on the Right of politics lost his entire p.c. due to hacker corruption.  Regrettably this person with profile -- Yes(!), by the National Media(sic) -- as I understand failed to backup, this also was secretary Don's undoing.  So what follows is supported by amended issues of the calendar issued by Don Brooke, Don substituted for speakers March and April (due to cancellations) is my recollection.

*  We who attended A.S.C. should recall that evening, the star attraction advertised by the RSL as "Girls Night Out" MANPOWER a male review -- maybe we (A.S.C. members) should have consulted an astrologer-numerologist?!?!  We might have been mindful thereafter, I believe we knew of the upcoming male review coinciding with our invitation.  Only to say we thought Rev. Crews would be a "draw card", attracting guys disposed to exercise a muscle not dependent on the visual.

2010 and ASC ...

During the year just passed you would have observed (next sentence) and been aware this blog did not exist.  Left clueless as to what could be done to improve attendance till half way through last year.  Though the club gained two gentlemen supporters early on, whilst I phoned members to remind them most months --  failed to attend two meetings due to another commitment over 500km from Sydney.  Whilst away attending to that other commitment -- my last for the year -- a mishap caused a delay of three or more weeks before I could possibly blog.  The blogs should have been advanced according to time line.  Whether the club would have folded or not during the year never arose, why you ask(?).  Because Mr BROOKE HELD IT TOGETHER.  How he did this, it must have taxed his time, from being a student he found employment and confessed to us (A.S.C. members) the job increasingly denied time to research and do other things.  However he managed to put together a number of interesting talks, drawing on his acquired knowledge.   Don carried the club from February through to October -- a meeting missed (as mentioned) the other was March.  John another member gave the last talk for the year in November.

On behalf of other members, myself and the supporters Jim and Michael:  Formally Thanking the two named (Don and John) for extending the forum's life.  I guess next year could be telling, particularly with the publishing of the blogs.  If not may be what has been put down hereby, will be a source for our own A.S.C. Web Site.  Dependent on the secretary and members agreeing, other documentation, for example extract(s) from the club's Articles of Association hereafter be included in a blog; my feeling this or another blog, or similar conveyance, is not desirable?!?!
