Present 1.

This weekly information selected by Don originally aired January.  We learnt of the Swiss Central Bank unilaterally declaring their franc immediately would be detached ("un-pegged") from the International Exchange Market.  This would effect other European banks, their consideration of QE; immediately had disastrous affect on Forex player and participants "short positioned" holding Swiss francs.  Then there was a questioning of what China similarly could do, what affects this could have on America. Affects of currency wars and inflation, pricing and quality of living. Concluding with advise on avoiding error when actively participating in Forex contract exchanges.

Thinking about the "present" how come Swiss-land can "un-peg"(?)  The best I could come up with: those who make the rules -- Basel 1, 11, 111 and IV -- like governments, can exempt and exclude; apparently in the case of "un-peg" the Swiss have special privilege.

Present 2.

1.  Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP):  The extension of copy right on "so called" intellectual creations.  Intended to bring the Pacific region incl. Australia "into line" with America's 100 year prohibition on freedom to use, exhibit or screen etc. material (printed, visual and recorded).  What understood would be legislated in signature countries to benefit financially corporations and associated entities in the entertainment industry.  Those who have created over time an insatiable demand for their product(s).  Now intend to extract from their addicted consumers dollars, in many cases from people what they can ill-afford.  The "economics" -- as comprehended from the present -- as a justification for the TPP initiative was questioned by the presenter.  A candid impression of what this industry offers -- in keeping with the "economics" -- seems it's not subject to supply/demand, and over pricing throughout the various modes to final distribution. What hope for consumers does the future hold should this be the case, i.e., after "partners" sign off on the TPP agreement(?)

2.  Discussion between host and guest concerning statutory obligation on government regarding the Bank of Canada.  The B of C nowadays operates similarly to the FRB (central bank of America) established independently of government.  Not so the B of C which is a public utility and was mandated to provide governments (federal and provincial) with interest free money, since 1974 we were told this has not been the case. As at 2015 there's a interest burden of 20 billion (presumed Canadian dollars), borne by Canadians. A court case running may resolve this matter in the future.

3.  The last sample elaborated in the present directed at Monsanto and GMF.  A phrase "proxy access" now added to the jargon of corporate terminology.  Interested consumers want representation when determinations of companies/corporations affecting the general population. The Monsanto concern reported in February 2015.

Tit bits of interest to club members followed:

  • The guest's "right field" comment regarding ISIS and the Democrat government in America.  As if to say, he disagrees with the stand the government is taking.
  • "Your Samsung Smart TV Is Spying on You, Basically ..." [ Ed. Certainly more to learn about this.]

A contribution from National Television Australia, "Four Corners" believed aired  09/03/2015.  From recollection -- Don, failed to provide link -- the subject of this current event program: Irregularities in government farm out of unemployment bureaus. These private operated companies are subsidized, in-house documentation questioned as to authenticity of (some) operators.  A suggestion of tampering alleged supported by random clients.  [Ed. A weekly  program of 45 minutes from the National (government) broadcaster].
